I ask all my seniors if there’s somewhere they’d like to do photos. Sometimes, they’re looking for a specific look, like something urban with lots of funky colors, and I suggest a few places that would work. Other times, they have a specific place in mind where they want to do photos. Nik wanted to do his photos out at his uncle’s place. I believe the text he sent me was along the lines of, “there’s some fields and a tractor there and it’s out near Nine Mile.” I very nearly got lost about three times heading out there, but it was exactly like Nik described, with some horses and fairly big fields.
What made Nik’s session great, was taking photos at a place he like. If you’re nervous about having your photos done, doing them at a place where you’re comfortable means that you’re already feeling at east. Because we spent time at a place Nik enjoyed, he got senior photos that represent him at this point in his life. And, as a bonus, I spent far too much time trying to convince one of the horses that there was nothing in my camera bag for him. :)
2017 seniors: I am now looking for a few senior reps, if that’s something you’re interested in, let’s talk! Or if you’re thinking you’d like a winter session — skiing or snowboarding? — this is a great time to get in touch with me. Hit me up through the contact form above!
