When I got Natalie’s email about their wedding in the Methow Valley, I knew it was going to be amazing. As beautiful as the Pacific Northwest is, the Methow Valley and Mazama hold a special place in my heart, and I love every minute I get to spend up in those mountains. After I met Natalie & Sam in person, and got to shoot their engagement session in Seattle, I was practically counting down the days until I was in Mazama.
A few weeks before the wedding, in the midst of a cruel June heatwave, Natalie & I hoped for cooler weather. And that’s what they got — with a side of rain. But even though the reception went inside, and the ceremony was moved to the front lawn under a small tent, every guest I talked to was just so happy to be there. They changed out of their wedding clothes to move chairs and tables, they hauled tents around, they poured wine, and shared umbrellas. They laughed and they danced and they celebrated Natalie & Sam’s wedding. The timeline went out the window, the linens had to be thrown in the dryer, and yet, it was absolutely perfect.
So, here is part one of Natalie & Sam’s wedding: their wedding day. Tomorrow I’ll share some of their stunning portraits!
