Joel & Dan were married last August at Within Sodo, and ever since I drove home (with the windows down) at midnight after their wedding, I’ve been trying to find the words to describe their wedding. And months later, I don’t feel like I’m any closer to doing these wonderful men justice. Joel & Dan are an amazing, creative, and loving couple. They planned the wedding day to make sure every guest had a wonderful time. There were couches for lounging, space for dancing, drinks before the ceremony, and a the whole space was filled with love.
Basically, this wedding was a true reflection of Joel & Dan’s love, and their relationship. They are such caring, giving, people, and I have been so honored to know them. Their wedding day had me laughing, crying, and dancing. Sometimes doing more than one at a time. This wedding? It was one for the books.
Joel & Dan, thank you. Thank you for the epic dance party, the beautiful rooftop moments, for dancing in fur coats, and for having me along and allowing me to spend the day with you, your families, and your guests. It was an honor. And another huge thank you to the lovely and talented Kate Ford, who shot this wedding with me. She’s my favorite Seattle tea buddy and shooting partner. Some of these shots are hers. Vendors are at the bottom.
Venue: Within Sodo // Caterer: Eat Local // Suits: Bar III // Candles: Made by Dan // Florist: Flowers on 15th // DJ: Injoy Entertainment // Live Music: Breaks & Swells // Rentals: Vintage Ambiance
I spent the weekend in Seattle with these lovely gentlemen.
It was one of the most amazing weddings I’ve had a chance to be a part of. At one of my favorite venues. And I had my favorite girl Kate Ford by my side.
You guys, I’m not a crier at weddings. I’m more of a big giddy smiles and jazz hands girl. But I almost lost it during their vows. But more about that later! Here’s a beautiful little preview of their wedding. [Psst – Don’t these two look like menswear models in the last shot? Hot!]
Many many thanks to everyone involved, especially to Joel and Dan, for having me along.
Normally, I try not to blather on about how awesome & beautiful the couple and day were because after a while, it all just sounds the same. So I usually say nothing and let the pictures speak for themselves. Except this time, I have to really tell you that this wedding, which I second shot with Mike Fiechtner was off the hook. Molly & Tyler were so laid back and amazing. From the moment I met her, Molly couldn’t stop smiling or laughing all day. If There is one photo I managed to snap of her not smiling, the only one where asking for a serious face worked. Otherwise? All smiles. Except when they exchanged vows and she got choked up. Not only were Molly & Tyler amazing to shoot, their venue, Within Sodo, was wicked cool. It’s down in Sodo, which is possibly my favorite Seattle hood (except, at like 2am, when you’re lost. Then it’s sketchy). It has a rooftop deck, where we took some pictures. And the rooftop deck has a view of downtown and the Starbucks headquarters. Mad props to Bamboo Beats & DJ Cues, for spinning some sweet tunes. And, if you’ve made it through all that, I owe you an apology. I had a hard time picking which photos to blog, because there were all so great, so this is a long post. But trust me, Molly & Tyler’s wedding is worth sitting down to check out.
