A couple weeks ago – right before the holidays – an email landed in my inbox. This bride told me they’d been engaged forever, and life had just gotten in the way of planning. So, they decided to elope. Was I free? Uh, YES. As much as I love the big events of traditional American weddings, I also love the sweet and tiny elopements. At big weddings, I tend to blend in to the background and my job makes me a little more like a ninja. At elopements, I’m one of very few – sometimes only two – people who get to witness a couple’s first moments of marriage.
So, I may have teared up a bit behind my camera yesterday, as I rang in the new year with the sweetest small wedding at the beautiful Roosevelt Inn in Coeur d’Alene. I’d never been there before, but it’s stunning! It was still decorated for Christmas, and while the Davenport may be the place to be for a large winter wedding, the Roosevelt Inn is quaint and perfect, and was decorated top to bottom in stunning Christmas cheer. I can’t share much with you yet, because they haven’t told the world about their elopement, so you’ll have to wait for the rest of the photos! Congratulations you two!!! <3
